A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING BLACKBURN MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL WILL REVIES UPON BEING NAMED ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR FOR THE JACKSON PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
WHEREAS, Blackburn Middle School Principal Will Revies has been named Administrator of the Year for the Jackson Public School district; and
WHEREAS, his nomination will be forwarded to the State Department of Education, which will announce an overall Mississippi winner by the end of the year; and
WHEREAS, Revies, who is from Hattiesburg, has been a resident of Jackson for thirty years and Principal at Blackburn Middle School for eight years. He has an undergraduate degree from Jackson State University in health and physical education; and
WHEREAS, Revies has a master's degree in education administration from Jackson State University, has worked for Jackson Public Schools for thirteen years, and is a former assistant principal at Forest Hill High School and former vice-principal at Pearl High School; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Revies is energetic and interested in his students, willing to go beyond the workday to provide services to students in his community and has been instrumental in bringing innovative educational programs into his school; and
WHEREAS, at Blackburn Middle School he has begun several programs to enhance learning, such as Saturday morning classes and summer programs. The programs help students improve math skills, learn social skills and improve science and technology skills; and
WHEREAS, a committee comprised of five assistant superintendents familiar with administrators at the district's fifty-eight schools selected Revies, basing their selection on looking at records and achievements of the administrators; and
WHEREAS, Revies is married to Goldia Revies, Public Affairs Director for WLBT-TV3, and they are the parents of three daughters, Michelle, Lisa and Kesha; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this dedicated school administrator who represents excellence in education in the public school system of our state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Blackburn Middle School Principal Will Revies upon being named Administrator of the Year for the Jackson Public School District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be presented to Principal Will Revies and be forwarded to the Superintendent of Schools of the Jackson Municipal Separate School District and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
